Royce Wee is Director, Head of Global Public Policy, at the Alibaba Group. His current focus areas include international developments in data protection policy, laws and regulations, AI governance and ethics, and promoting an organisational culture of trust, safety, security and accountability.

Prior to joining the Alibaba Group, Royce was the Director for economic regulation at the Ministry of Communications and Information, overseeing competition, consumer protection, infrastructure resilience and new technologies in the telecom, broadcast and postal sectors, as well as data protection policy and regulation.

Royce also has experience practising as an in-house counsel and overseeing infocomm policy at the Infocomm Media Development Authority. He also served as Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Attorney-General’s Chambers, where he worked on criminal prosecution, legal analysis, advice and advocacy. Prior to joining the Attorney-General’s Chambers, Royce completed a stint as Assistant Director at the Legal Aid Bureau, Ministry of Law.
