The Honorable Dato Abdul Mutalib Yusof
Minister of Transport and Infocommunications at Brunei Darussalam


The Honorable Dato was appointed by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam as the Minister of Communications on 30 January 2018. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has also consented for the appointment of the Minister of Transport and Infocommunications as the Minister-in-charge of Cybersecurity on 17th October 2018.

Prior to his appointment, The Honorable Dato held several positions including amongst others, as Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs from August 2016 to January 2018; Permanent Secretary, Media and Cabinet at the Prime Minister’s Office from November 2015 to August 2016; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications from April 2013 to November 2015; Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Communications, respectively from 2008 to 2013. The Honorable Dato has also held executive positions in the corporate sector from 2003 to 2007.

The Honorable Dato holds a Master of International Business (Economics & Commerce) from the University of Melbourne, Australia; BA (Honours) in Management Studies from Universiti Brunei Darussalam and as member of the Australian Institute of Management (AIMM, Aus.). The Honorable Dato had also attended short courses under fellowship amongst others such as a ‘Leaders in Governance Program’ at the Civil Service College, Singapore; an Executive Program on ‘Economic Growth’ at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, U.S.A; and the ‘21st Century Partnership Invitation Leadership Program’ in Japan. 

Throughout his career, The Honorable Dato received the meritorious awards The Most Blessed Order of Setia Negara Brunei 1st Class (P.S.N.B) which carries the title ‘Dato Seri Setia' in 2018, The Most Honourable Order of Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei 3rd Class (SMB) in 2011 and ‘Pingat Indah Kerja Baik’ (PIKB) in 2007. 

The Honorable Dato is married to Datin Dayang Noor Ashikin binti Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Sura Pahlawan Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Tahir, and are blessed with seven children. The Honorable Dato enjoys reading, cycling, football, brisk walking and family outings.
