FutureChina Global Forum 慧眼中国环球论坛
Organised by: Business China
Created by Business China Singapore in 2010, the FutureChina Global Forum (FCGF) was inaugurated by Singapore’s Founding Prime Minister and our Founding Patron, the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew. The past 11 editions of FCGF have provided an international platform for business leaders and experts around the world to share their experiences and analysis of the new trends and forces driving China’s evolution to become one of the world’s largest economies.
With 2021 marking the 30th anniversary of the dialogue relations between ASEAN and China, the theme of FutureChina Global Forum (FCGF) 2021 will be "Elevating China-ASEAN Economic Collaboration in the "Never Normal". Companies have to learn to embrace and thrive in the “Never Normal”, characterised by “Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity (abbreviated as “VUCA”). Elevated China-ASEAN collaboration in the “Never Normal” will be the global driver of tomorrow’s technological advancement, financial connectivity, investment, and trade flow. In the new era of “Never Normal”, Singapore also can be an effective gateway to lubricate the next phase of China-ASEAN economic prosperity. The discussion provides a platform to revisit past milestones and envision the way forward. China is growing in his economic interests towards ASEAN and China-ASEAN economic activities are increasing interconnected. In 2020, ASEAN countries have jumped to be the number one trading bloc with China. In the years to come, it is expected that the ASEAN bloc and China will strengthen their regional trade and become the engine of global growth. The RCEP is expected to boost intra-Asian trade and with a harmonisation in trade standards.
Singapore can serve as an essential international hub to facilitate the especially regional transformation and collaboration between China and ASEAN. The collaboration is important for the region to capture business opportunities and anticipate post-pandemic economic recovery. Through the Forum, participants will gain a sharper understanding of the latest developments and better anticipation of emerging trends that will better position regional companies in capturing opportunities in both China and ASEAN regions towards 2050 and beyond.
