Astranis builds and operates a new kind of communications satellite that is 1/20 the size and cost of legacy GEO satellites. Astranis MicroGEOs offer dedicated bandwidth as a service with a lower price tag and much shorter build times, enabling broadband connectivity wherever and whenever it is needed. Customers include Alaskan broadband provider Pacific Dataport Inc., mobility connectivity provider Anuvu and Peruvian cellular backhaul provider Grupo Andesat. The first Astranis MicroGEO, Arcturus, will launch this summer on a SpaceX Falcon Heavy, tripling the capacity in Alaska and providing service at 1/2 the cost to consumers.
