Victor Chong

Victor has worked in the smartcard business in APAC for over 20 years. He began his career with Gemplus in a regional sales role, responsible for the telecom and banking businesses. During this time, Victor witnessed the infancy stage of SIM in the telecom industry, and the introduction of chip-based technology into the ID and payment world. He was involved in some of the key pioneering projects such as the first commercial loyalty card deployment and first ID card for a government agency in Singapore. In 2006, Victor took on a management role in Morpho (now known as IDEMIA) heading up the Telecom Business. In this role, he was built the business operation, the team and oversaw the business growth to become one of the top three players in the region; navigating the business transformation from SIM to eSIM and services. After moving to New Zealand in 2013, Victor had the opportunity to get involved in pioneering and championing eKYC using biometrics technologies for the telecom and banking industries in the Australasia region, and initiated some of the first few proof of concepts and trials.
