Yuya Kuwano

Yuya Kuwano is researcher of Science & Technology Research Laboratories, Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK).  He joined Japan Broadcasting Corporation since April 2019 and has been working at the Science and Technology Research Laboratories since 2021. He has been researching accessibility for broadcasting using AI. He especially has researched the use of audio descriptions to enable visually impaired users to enjoy TV programs. And he developed a system that produces audio descriptions and distributes them to users’ smartphones in real-time.  

  

Prior to joining this research, he has worked as the engineer at Tokushima broadcast station of Japan Broadcasting Corporation and developed the audio system at the time of disaster. He has researched facial expression recognition method using deep learning at Science & Technology Research Laboratories. He holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Tokyo University of Science (TUS). His research interests include machine learning, image recognition, and signal processing.
