Akito Tanaka is a senior staff writer for Nikkei and Nikkei Asia's Chief business news correspondent, covering the technology sector from Singapore. Tanaka has over twenty years of reporting experience and has also been covering global companies in Japan, the United States and Asia. He is the recipient of the top prize for breaking news at the Asian Media Awards from the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers for "After Gohsn-- Nissan and Renault wrestle for control of their shared auto empire."


Tanaka graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, with BA in political science. He spent his childhood years in Lisbon, Portugal, attending the American International School.
