Aaron Tan

Aaron Tan is a data professional with more than 17 years of experience in data engineering, analytics, architecture and governance, and is passionate about making data easy to use. He believes data should be thoughtfully managed and curated, and that data democratization is essential for enabling advanced analytics and insights.

Aaron is currently the head of Data Engineering at GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund. He leads a team of data engineers and data scientists that builds outstanding data solutions for delivering data services at scale. Using modern and innovative data technologies, the team enables the rest of GIC to securely and seamless access investment, research and enterprise data.

He was previously the head of Data & Analytics at Singapore Exchange Limited (SGX), and a member of the technology leadership team reporting to the CTO. He built SGX’s first Data & Analytics team, which was responsible for building capabilities necessary for advanced analytics and data-driven decisions, delivered through a modern data analytics stack.

Aaron has worked in the Financial Services industry for his whole career, in both buy- and sell-side companies. He has lived and worked in Singapore and New York City, and has experience leading globally distributed teams.
