Jalil Rasheed

Jalil Rasheed joined Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) in September 2022 after nearly two decades of experience in global firms where he served in a variety of key leadership roles. 

Prior to TBI, Jalil was the Group CEO of Berjaya Corporation Berhad, one of Malaysia’s largest conglomerate businesses. Jalil was responsible for managing the investment arm of $4.5B worth of assets. Under his leadership, the company turned profitable in the second quarter of his tenure, after six consecutive quarters in the red. He was also a member of the board of directors for Cardiff City Football Club, KV Kortrijk and FK Sarajevo. 

From 2019 to 2020, Jalil was the President and Group CEO of Permodalan Nasional Berhad Malaysia, one of the largest fund management companies in Malaysia. Under his management, Jalil was responsible for $76B worth of assets. He was also the Chairman of Sapura Energy Berhad, one of the largest oil and gas services company in Malaysia and the Chairman of Prolintas Group. To date, he is the youngest CEO of PNB. 

Jalil built a successful career in Invesco Ltd. where he was the CEO from 2013 to 2019, leading a firm with $33B of assets to manage. He entered the workforce as an Investment Manager at Aberdeen Asset Management in 2005, advancing to Head of Equities in 2008 and becoming the CEO of Aberdeen Islamic Asset Management by 2010.

Jalil received his Bachelors (Hons) In Accounting and Finance from University of London.
