Ying Staton

Plastic Energy is the industry leader in chemical or advanced recycling of end-of-life plastic waste. Ying holds the dual role of Chief Sustainability Officer and Vice President for Asia, and is a member of the company’s management team.As Chief Sustainability Officer, she oversees Plastic Energy’s sustainability strategy, working to ensure sustainability values are core to the company’s commercial strategy and operations, as well as overseeing policy and communications. As Vice President, Asia, she leads the company’s commercial operations in Asia with responsibility for commercial strategy, business and corporate development. She started her career in the British government, where she led research in 10 Downing St under Prime Minister David Cameron and worked on areas related to sustainability and economic development in the transport and international development ministries, as part of which she spent 2 years delivering UK aid programmes in Uganda. After leaving government, she moved to Asia and was Head of Asia at strategic advisory firm Global Counsel and Managing Director at global capital advisory firm ABG Advisory, advising corporates and investors on trade and investment issues between Asia and Europe, with a focus on regulatory and political risk, trade and sustainability. Ying graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Classics and English from Oxford University and holds an M.A. in East Asian Studies from Yale University, where she was a Henry Fellow. She is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, and a CFA charter holder.
