Profile
Dr Giulia Ajmone Marsan is an innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship strategist and ecosystem builder, with more than 15 years of experience in economic analysis and advice, policy dialogue, research, and capacity building. During her career, Giulia has advised a broad range of public and private sector leaders, senior policymakers, government officials, international organisations, and other stakeholders globally: across ASEAN and the Indo-Pacific, the European Union, North and Latin America, Africa, MENA, the G20.
She is currently the Head of Startups and Inclusion at the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA). Prior to joining ERIA, Giulia worked as an Innovation Economist at the OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development). Giulia was appointed as Co-Chair of the G20/Startup20 Inclusion Task Force under G20 India in 2023 and as a member of the G20/Startup20 ESG Task Force under G20 Brazil in 2024. Dr Ajmone Marsan is a member of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Expert Network and Strategic Intelligence Community; a member of the expert group of the ASEAN+3 Startup Programme for Sustainable Development; she is the chair of the Steering Committee of the OECD Entrepreneurship Education Collaboration Engagement (EECOLE) Initiative and is an associate of the Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI).
Giulia has authored and published several books, highly-cited academic articles and research reports and her op-eds regularly appear in leading international media outlets. She occasionally gives lectures on science, technology and innovation trends & policy at leading international universities.
