About Hemant Taneja

Hemant Taneja is the CEO of General Catalyst, an investor, founder, and author of four books, including the upcoming The Transformation Principles. He envisions General Catalyst as a leader in investment and transformation, focusing on global resilience through applied AI.

Hemant introduced his AI thesis in Unscaled (2018), highlighting how startups leveraging AI in focused markets will shape the future economy. He advocates for Responsible Innovation—building inclusive, sustainable growth as detailed in his 2022 book Intended Consequences, a Forbes Top Ten Tech Book.

He serves on multiple boards, co-founded non-profits like Responsible Innovation Labs and Advanced Energy United, and supports education through roles at Northeastern University, Stanford School of Medicine, and Khan Lab School.
