Mr Ang Wee Keong joined IMDA in June 2023 to lead IMDA’s international strategy, engagement, and collaboration. His International Group oversees multilateral negotiations and bilateral partnerships in the digital domain, covering digital trade policies and agreements, cross-border data flow mechanisms, emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, development of inter-operable digital technology standards, and cooperation in capacity building. In addition, he oversees the Infocomm Policy division in IMDA’s Policy, Regulation and Competition Development Group.
Before his current appointment, Mr Ang served as Special Assistant to Deputy Prime Minister (and subsequently Senior Minister) Teo Chee Hean from October 2018 to April 2023. Prior to that, he spent most of his career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and had served as Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister-Counsellor at the Singapore Embassy in Beijing, and First Secretary at the Singapore Embassy in Jakarta. He also had a stint in the Public Service Division (PSD) under the Prime Minister’s Office, overseeing public service delivery.
Mr Ang has been a member of the Singapore Polytechnic Board of Governors since April 2024. Mr Ang has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Master of Arts in International Relations, both from the University of Chicago, and a Master of Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School.
