Profile

Denise is currently the Assistant Chief Executive (Data Innovation & Protection Group). Her scope of work includes developing governance policies on AI and data, promoting industry adoption of AI and data analytics, as well as building specific AI and data capabilities in Singapore.

Denise is also the Co-Director of the Singapore AI Safety Institute. Working closely with the Digital Trust Centre, Denise oversees the priority workstreams of policy, engineering and R&D to help advance the state in global AI safety sciences. This includes developing policies, driving technical work related to AI safety and governance, as well as establishing international engagements and partnerships with other global AISIs and government agencies.

Denise concurrently holds the appointment of Deputy Commissioner of the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) and oversees the administration and enforcement of the Personal Data Protection Act (2012). Her key responsibilities include formulation and implementation of policies relating to the protection of personal data, as well as enforcement actions to private organizations.

Denise is also the Co-Chair of the Global Partnership on AI (GPAI), where she leads the organization in implementing human-centric, safe, secure and trustworthy AI, embodied in the principles of the OECD Recommendation on AI.
