Dr Yuan Jiajun was born in September 1962 in Tonghua, Jilin Province. He holds a doctoral degree of Engineering and a professional title of research fellow. He began his first job in July 1987 and joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in November 1992.

Dr Yuan Jiajun is currently a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC and Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee.
