Profile
Mr Timothy Chin joined IMDA in October 2025. He leads IMDA’s International Group which formulates and executes international strategy and engagements. This includes bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the digital domain, such as on emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, cross-border data flows, digital technology standards, digital trade policies, and capacity-building.
Prior to his current appointment, Mr Chin worked at the Ministry of Trade and Industry as Director-General for Americas, Europe and Central Asia, the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth’s Arts and Heritage Division, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs including at the Singapore Embassy in Jakarta and High Commission in New Delhi. He has also worked at the Ministry of Education.
Mr Chin is a member of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore Board of Directors.
Mr Chin graduated from Harvard Kennedy School with a Master of Public Administration. He also holds a Master of Arts in Political Science from Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Social and Political Science (Honours) from the University of Cambridge.
