Philip Rathle is CTO of Neo4j, the graph database and analytics leader powering the next generation of intelligent applications. A longtime pioneer in knowledge systems, he is the author of The GraphRAG Manifesto, a key resource for grounding GenAI in enterprise-trusted knowledge using graph-based retrieval augmented generation (GraphRAG). Under Philip’s leadership, Neo4j has become a core part of the GenAI stack, providing AI accuracy, improving transparency and explainability, and serving as long-term memory for LLMs. His work has had global impact, from uncovering Panama Papers to accelerating NASA’s mission to Mars. Philip has also spearheaded industry initiatives to standardize database query languages, including ISO GQL, the first global standard for database query languages in nearly 40 years, formally recognizing graphs as a generational technology. Prior to Neo4j, Philip held senior roles at Accenture, Tanning Technology Corporation, and Embarcadero Technologies. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University and is based in Silicon Valley.
