Joakim EspelandChief Executive Officer at QuadSATSpeaker
Profile
Joakim Espeland is the co-founder and CEO of QuadSAT, a Danish company revolutionising satellite antenna testing and calibration using drone-based systems. Originally launched as a university project with co-founder Andrian Buchi, QuadSAT evolved from academic research into a commercially viable company backed by venture capital and government support. Joakim holds degrees in electrical and mechanical engineering and began his career as a telecom technician before moving into satellite communications for the oil and gas sector, where he identified the need for more agile and accurate ground segment testing solutions.
Recognising the potential of drone technology to simulate satellite signals, Joakim developed a system that enables real-world testing with lab-level precision. His perseverance led QuadSAT through Seraphim Capital’s Space Camp, securing early investment from Seraphim and the Danish Government.
QuadSAT now works with leading organisations including SES, OneWeb, and the European Space Agency. Joakim previously engineered groundbreaking live broadcasts from Easter Island and interstellar poem transmissions from Chile. He also serves on the advisory board of R-24, the Nordic region’s largest robotics and drone fair, and as the Danish ambassador for Access Space Alliance, helping to connect national players with the global satellite ecosystem.
