Manjunath (Manju) Bhat is a Research VP and Gartner Fellow based out of Gartner’s Sydney office. He is part of the software engineering practice covering technologies and practices related to Generative AI, cloud-native architectures, open source software and software supply chain security. Manju views the impact of Generative AI on software engineering through two perspectives - Building intelligent DevOps pipelines to improve operational efficiency and building intelligent applications to create new business models.
As a practitioner before Gartner, Manju architected and designed mobile security and the AirWatch EMM software in his previous position. He was the head of engineering at AirWatch by VMware India Technologies. He joined the company as the first employee and built the R&D organization from the ground up. He has the honour of holding 10 US patents on mobile security and mobile device management.
His Gartner fellowship project involved predicting the thrivability of emerging technologies – Thrivability is the ability to place forward-looking, strategic bets on technologies that are yet to be proven without having the benefit of hindsight. Manju also launched Gartner's first edition of the Magic Quadrant for DevOps Platforms (2023) and the Hype Cycle for Platform Engineering (2024)
