Head, Group ESG at ST Telemedia Global Data Centres

Sharmel is Head of Group ESG of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC). In this role, he is responsible for steering and directing the approach, development and delivery of STT GDC’s ESG strategy and programmes across the Group.

Sharmel has over 15 years of experience working in the UK and in Southeast Asia with organisations across sectors, through his capacity as a specialist consultant and sustainability lead for large, listed companies. Prior to STT GDC, Sharmel was most recently Head of Sustainability at PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB), where he played a pivotal role in conceptualising, developing and successfully implementing PDB’s first 5-year Sustainability Strategy Roadmap that underpinned all ESG related activities within the business. Sharmel was also responsible for establishing a robust Sustainability Governance Framework at PDB. In his previous roles, Sharmel led sustainability initiatives at Axiata, MISC Berhad and TwoTomorrows Group in the UK.

Sharmel holds a degree in Environmental Technology (Business & Sustainability Specialist option) at Imperial College London.
