Gen Funahashi currently serves as the Group COO of ICMG Group, where he spearheads the firm's comprehensive investment operations, including its Venture Capital arm. As the General Partner, he leads the ICMG Co-Creation Fund II—backed by prominent LPs such as OKI, Hokuriku Bank, and 77 Bank—building upon the success of Fund I, which was launched with notable LPs including Haneda Airport (Japan Airport Terminal) and Kiraboshi Bank.

Based in Singapore since 2016, he oversees investments across Asia, including the Indian market. He boasts a formidable track record of co-investing with top-tier global players, including Sequoia Capital, Google, Tiger Global Management, and Jungle Ventures.

In addition to VC, his expertise spans private equity and next-generation infrastructure. He successfully launched CleanGrid Partners and Greenway Grid Global—joint ventures with Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) and Chubu Electric Power Company—to invest in renewable energy and supply electricity to un-electrified areas in Southeast Asia.

His foundational career includes managing aerospace and healthcare funds at ACA Investments, a Singapore-based PE fund, and executing cross-border M&A for global manufacturing clients at Deloitte. In recognition of his leadership in the business community, he was appointed as a member of Keizai Doyukai (Japan Association of Corporate Executives) in 2023.
