Jan is a systems integrator with extensive track record in project management. Her domestic and international experiences in strategic planning, policy-making, and project management in the areas of security and strategic studies, international development, cyber diplomacy, cyber governance, civil-military operations, and reserve force development is well known. She was one of the pioneers of digital mobile telephony for Globe Telecoms.

A former member of the ASEAN Experts Working Group that drafted, legally scrubbed, and socialized the ASEAN Convention against Trafficking in Persons and the Philippines’ Anti-Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. Awards received include the Military Bronze Cross Medal, Cyber Command Badge, the Jefferson Awards for Volunteerism, Top ASEAN Women in Security for 2022. She is a cybersecurity consultant of the Philippine’s National Security Council, Non-Resident Fellow STRATBASE Institute, and a National Security Fellow of the Philippine Council for Foreign Relations.

A lifelong learner and alumna of various institutions including the University of the Philippines, the National Defense College of the Philippines, National Defense University’s Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies in Fort Lesley McNair, Washington DC, the University of Cincinnati Center for Cyber Strategic and Policy, the Chatham House Royal Institute of International Affairs, Indo-Pacific Centre for Military Law, among others.
