Jimmy Tan is the Head of Astro Studios, the core production powerhouse of Malaysia’s leading broadcaster, Astro. With over 18 years of experience across broadcast production, business strategy, and virtual production innovation, he leads three integrated divisions — Astro Productions, Astro Sound+Vision, and Astro Design+Motion — driving end-to-end capabilities from live sports and entertainment to post-production, design, and immersive XR experiences.

In his current role, Jimmy spearheads the strategic transformation of Astro’s production ecosystem, championing converged workflows, advanced broadcast technologies, and global partnerships. He is instrumental in positioning Astro Studios as a regional leader in virtual production (XR), remote production, and hybrid content solutions, while building new growth models and optimizing operational efficiency.

Previously, Jimmy led Astro’s Business Development & Strategy team, expanding international partnerships and pioneering XR adoption within the organisation. His earlier career spans production management, international project development, and film marketing.
