Profile
Kentaroh Toyoda was born in Tokyo, Japan, in 1988. He received B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. (Engineering) degrees from Keio University, Japan, in 2011, 2013, and 2016, respectively. He was an Assistant Professor at Keio University before joining A*STAR, Singapore, where he was a Scientist at the Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology (SIMTech) and subsequently a Senior Scientist at the Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC). He is currently a Director of GenAI Security AI Research at Vulcan Research, AIFT, Singapore, where he leads fundamental research in AI safety and security. His work focuses on understanding and mitigating security risks arising from the rapid development and deployment of AI systems across diverse domains. He is also a visiting lecturer at the Keio Global Research Institute (KGRI), Keio University, Japan, where he actively fosters international research collaboration in AI safety and security. His research interests span AI safety, security and privacy, blockchain, data analysis, and mechanism design. He has been consecutively named among the World's Top-2% Scientists by Stanford University since 2022. He is an active contributor to the IEEE community, currently serving as Chair of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS), Singapore Chapter (2025–2026), and is a Senior Member of IEEE.
