Mark Yong is CEO and co-founder at Garuda Robotics, a Singapore-headquartered developer of uncrewed systems. Over the last 20 years, he’s led the development of ground and aerial robot systems for applications such as infrastructure inspections, commercial agriculture, urban search and rescue, and STEM education. He is regularly involved in standards development, most recently as co-convenor of the working group that developed TR138: Use of drones in the chemical industry. From 2006-2014, Mark was a lecturer in the School of Computer Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, winning the Nanyang Education Award. He continues to contribute to academic department program and curriculum development through industrial advisory panels and mentorship programs. He was trained at Carnegie Mellon University (MS Electrical & Computer Engineering / BS ECE & Economics) and the University of Michigan (MS Computer Science).
