Profile
Mohamed (Moe) Ba is head of Digital Innovation, at Telecommunication Development Burau of the International Telecommunication Union - the UN specialized agency for ICT/Telecommunication. He specialises in digital innovation policy, strategic foresight, facilitating policy experimentation, developing innovation platforms, and cultivating communities and ecosystems to foster digital growth.
For the past ten years, he has been a strategic advisor to countries and development organizations, helping advance technological and entrepreneurial ecosystems. His achievements include supporting over 30 countries with their national innovation and digital economy strategies, designing and operationalizing the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Global Alliance for Digital Development, building expert networks and communities of practice for various thematics, and designing and operationalizing a network of over 15 country owned innovation centres globally to accelerate digital growth.
He is leads the secretariat of the high-level Digital Innovation Board, of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alliance for Digital Development as well as the community of practices from theglobal Expert Network of ITU, including a strategic foresight community.
Before this role, he spent 18 years in the US private sector as lead engineer, project manager, product manager, platform manager, business development manager, strategic marketing manager, and strategic client advisor and in account manager roles for high-tech companies including Intel and Cisco. Throughout this period, he received several distinguished awards in engineering, sales, and lifetime achievement.
With nearly thirty years of expertise in technology, innovation, and development policy, he is dedicated to enabling communities to realise their full potential by empowering stakeholders and aligning opportunities with available resources.
Mr. Ba earned an M.B.A. fin entrepreneurship rom Babson College, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, and dual B.S. degrees in Manufacturing Engineering and Computer Science, all in the USA
