Veemal Gungadin is the CEO of Mauritius Telecom, where he is leading the organisation’s transformation into a digitally driven, AI-enabled telecommunications leader for Mauritius and the wider region. A computer science graduate from the National University of Singapore, Veemal spent over 25 years in Singapore’s tech and innovation ecosystem, one of the most advanced digital economies in the world. There, he founded and scaled technology companies delivering secure digital platforms and AI-powered solutions for enterprises and governments. This hands-on experience in product, data, and partnerships shapes his execution-focused leadership at Mauritius Telecom today.

Veemal believes that telcos must evolve from pure infrastructure providers into intelligent platforms that enable national progress. He is driving this shift by integrating AI into operations, expanding enterprise and digital services, and building the future workforce through collaboration across education, industry, and government. He also plays an active role in positioning Mauritius as a strategic digital bridge between Africa and Asia.
