Zul-Fakhri Maiadi brings 24 years of news media experience across print, broadcast and digital media, shaped by a deep-rooted connection to the industry and a career built almost entirely on his own terms.

A Fulbright alumnus holding an MA in Journalism from the University of Missouri (2009) and a BA (Hons) in International Business from European Business School London (2001), Zul began his media career in 2002 with the Borneo Bulletin before joining Radio Television Brunei part-time in January 2010, running both roles concurrently for three years until December 2012 when he joined RTB on a full-time permanent basis.

Zul’s career has enabled him to witness some of the world's most significant diplomatic stages through the media lens: the UN General Assembly, multiple ASEAN Summits, APEC Economic Leaders' Meetings, a Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, and State Visits — leading Brunei's news coverage teams on the ground. Separately, he has interviewed visiting heads of state, foreign diplomats, and senior officials throughout his career.

A Gen X professional who has witnessed Brunei’s independence in 1984, the digital revolution, and the rise of mobile and internet communications, Zul is currently pursuing a PhD in Communication at Universiti Teknologi Brunei, focusing on AI's medium- and long-term impacts on society.
