Dr. Nelson Lau is the CEO and Co-Founder of HealthBridge AI, an AI healthtech startup addressing the challenges of doctor burnout and limited patient access to timely healthcare. The company gained recognition after being selected for the Generative AI Accelerator Programme, a joint initiative by NUS, Block71, and Microsoft, as well as the Cyberport Entrepreneurship Program, supported by the Hong Kong Government. Alongside his Co-Founder Minh Nguyen, a leading AI expert from Vietnam, Dr. Lau launched HealthBridge AI, leveraging generative AI to develop tools that streamline healthcare processes and enhance patient outcomes.


Dr. Lau's background is a unique combination of medicine and technology. He is a General Practitioner with a degree from the University of Western Australia and a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, with over 30 years of clinical experience. A decade ago, he played a key role in establishing Australia's largest national telemedicine service in collaboration with Medibank, the country's largest private health insurer. Dr. Lau oversaw the national rollout of the After Hours GP Helpline videoconference platform, staffed by over 40 GPs across the country. As Senior Medical Advisor, he focused on clinical governance, patient safety, and training doctors in telemedicine best practices.


Dr. Lau also developed the 'Travel Health' iPhone app, which provided travellers with crucial health advice and reached the top rank on the Australian Apple App Store. With a strong passion for healthtech innovation, he views it as the key to tackling healthcare's biggest problems, striving to create a positive impact on doctors and patients alike.
